Who we are

For the purposes of this notice, get-online.uk is the controller of the personal data described here. That means we decide why and how that data is used.

If you have any questions about this notice or want to exercise your rights, email hello@get-online.uk or use the contact form on the home page.

What we collect

We may collect and use the following types of personal data:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, business name, town, and anything else you send through the contact form or in an email.
  • Publicly available business contact details and listing information, for example from a Google Business Profile or another public directory.
  • Notes about enquiries, quotes, project discussions, revisions, handover, and support.
  • Basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps in standard server logs.
  • Billing and record-keeping information if you become a client.

Please do not send sensitive personal data unless we ask for it and there is a clear reason to do so.

How we use your data

We use personal data to run the service in a straightforward way. That includes:

  • Replying to enquiries and discussing whether you want to claim a site.
  • Preparing, improving, transferring, hosting, and supporting websites.
  • Researching local businesses that may be a fit for the service.
  • Keeping records, handling invoices, preventing misuse, and protecting the site.

Our main lawful bases are:

  • Legitimate interests for running and improving the service, researching suitable businesses, keeping records, and protecting the site.
  • Contract or steps before contract where you ask us to provide, revise, transfer, host, or support a website.
  • Legal obligation where we need to keep tax, accounting, or compliance records.
  • Consent where the law requires it, especially for certain types of electronic marketing.

Public business data and outreach

A core part of this business is finding local businesses that appear to have no website, building a demo site, and then making contact with an offer.

To do that, we may use information already made public by or about a business, such as the business name, phone number, town, address, service area, opening times, and publicly listed contact details.

If we contact you about a demo site, we will only do so in ways that UK law allows. We do not treat the fact that an email address or mobile number is public as automatic permission to send marketing by email or text.

Your right to object

If you do not want us to contact you, or you want us to stop using your details for direct marketing, email hello@get-online.uk. We will stop and keep only the minimum needed to respect that request.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell personal data. We only share it where there is a real need to do so.

  • Hosting, domain, email delivery, and website service providers that help run the site or deliver client work.
  • Professional advisers such as accountants, legal advisers, or insurers where necessary.
  • Regulators, courts, law enforcement, or other authorities if we are legally required to do so.

If you use the contact form on this site, the details you enter are sent through Resend so they can be delivered to our inbox and answered.

When you load this website, your browser also connects to Google Fonts so the site can display its chosen typeface. That usually means Google receives technical data such as your IP address and browser information.

Some suppliers may store or access data outside the UK. If that happens, we use appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual terms.

How long we keep your data

We do not keep personal data for longer than we need it.

  • General enquiries and quote discussions: usually up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact.
  • Public-source prospecting data: usually up to 12 months if there is no further action, or sooner if it is no longer needed.
  • Suppression or do-not-contact records: as long as needed to make sure we honour your objection.
  • Client, project, and financial records: usually up to 6 years where we need them for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
  • Standard server and security logs: usually up to 30 days unless we need them longer for troubleshooting or security.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
  • Ask us to restrict how we use your information.
  • Object to our use of your data, especially for direct marketing.
  • Ask for your data in a portable format where that right applies.

To use any of these rights, email hello@get-online.uk.

Cookies and technical data

This site does not currently use advertising cookies. It does run a contact form, and if you submit it the details you enter are used to deliver your enquiry to us so we can reply.

Like most websites, the hosting provider may keep basic server logs for security, performance, and troubleshooting. These logs may include your IP address, requested pages, and browser details.

Contact and complaints

If you have a question, want to object, or want to exercise a data protection right, contact us first at hello@get-online.uk.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator. Their website is ico.org.uk.

We may update this notice from time to time. If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page.
